Boys Can Wear Pink - Season 4 - Blog Tour

Welcome to the CKC BOYS leg of the "Boys Can Wear Pink ~ Season 4" blog tour! We are excited to be presenting again this year, with all our fellow PDF designers.  If you're here for the first time, we are super happy you came!

It's no secret that boys can wear pink. The question is, can boys ROCK pink?  I'm a pretty picky person/designer and still I say YES!  Here are some fun shots from our tour last year:

(You can see more shots from last year here if you'd like!)

I have four boys and one girl at my house so I'm no stranger to all things girly, but there is an overwhelming amount of BOY culture at our house. I was a tomboy so I love it.  I've also noticed as I do the laundry each time, that our red/pink pile is getting larger and larger over time. It's not just my daughter either; my older boys are starting to rock the reds and pinks ALL the time!

Somehow the macho high schoolers have no problem wearing pink. (My oldest is a 6-foot freshman.) I hope all the young boys and their mamas will take note!  There's a lot of cool stuff they can wear in any color they want - especially pink.

For today's highlighted outfit, my fellow designer Suze made a matching set of "pinks" for her kiddos to wear. The dress is for her daughter, of course, and the matching awesome shirt is Slate's Henley Style Woven Tee.  It's the perfect pattern for modern looks!

What I love about Suze is that she is always sewing for her boy!  You can tell in the photo that her little guy isn't playing the backup role in their brother-sister sets.  He owns it!  I absolutely adore these two.

If you're new to sewing for your boy, I want to suggest a couple things.  1) Don't be afraid to pick a busy print, as long as you 2) Throw some solids in there to break it up.  I love how Suze used a bold print for the main shirt and then solid dark pink for the sleeve tabs and front placket. If you have ever seen a boy's outfit that turned out looking more like pajamas than wear-out-of-the-house clothes, I would recommend adding in more solids next time. There's no doubt that the dapper kid above is looking sharp - (not sleepy)!

And happy too.  Very, very happy.

If you'd like this comfy shirt for your kiddo, it comes in Baby sizes (NB to 18/24m) and Kid sizes (2 to 14).  I love that it can be made entirely of wovens like cotton, and that it's dressy enough for special occasions while still comfy for everyday play.

 It's the perfect modern look!

To see more "pink" looks using our CKC BOYS patterns, please be sure to check back in here throughout the week!  Tomorrow we have Western, Wednesday is Comfy, Thursday is Hipster, and Friday is Dressy!
